Pancake Race 2017

It was a rather chilly start for the fourth annual Houghton Regis Pancake Race, which took place on the Village Green today Shove Tuesday!

Over 30 teams of 4, which is the most the Town Council have had take part in this event, all came to complete a short course whilst flipping their pancakes.

Aged from young to Grown-up..the races were started by Councillor Chris Slough (using the historic Houghton Regis Bell which is believed to have come from the original Thomas Whitehead School)and accompanied by Tara Earnshaw Community Development Officer, who made sure everyone was lined up ready to race with their pans!

Mike Ruff played some background music on his Accordion to encourage the runners and entertain the crowds!

Medals were given to the winning teams from each age category.

The overall winning team came from Houghton Regis Primary who won a team trophy for the fastest race time of 9.94 seconds!

Also Well Done to the council's Grounds team for winning the Grown-ups Race!

A BIG Thank you to everyone who braved the cold weather and took part!
