The biggest event in the town during July was the Town Carnival, which was the warmest day of the year and it proved once more to be a big success. The Carnival included the procession through the streets of Houghton Regis, Stalls on the Village Green, arena displays and side shows. As Town Mayor, Councillor Wattingham played a big part on the day, judging the Procession and Best Presented Stall competitions, travelling in the Carnival Procession, officially opening the event in the afternoon and presented the trophies to the competition winners! In addition, Councillor Wattingham hosted a stall with various games to to raise funds for his nominated charities.
During July, Councillor Wattingham also attended the Hospice at Home Volunteers Annual General Meeting, Luton and Dunstable Hospital 70th Birthday Celebrations, Minds2Gether 6Month Anniversary, Luton and Dunstable Hospital Birthday Bonanza Fundraising Event, Mayor of Leighton-Linslade’s Charity Italian Dinner, a Presentation Afternoon hosted by Tithe Farm Primary School and the All Saints Academy Awards Evening.
July was one of the hottest months of the year, but there was still lots more warm weather and events to prepare for, as August approached...
