August and September 2018


In August, Councillor Wattingham hosted a Summer Bingo Event in aid of his chosen charities.

The Mayor called out the all important numbers, there were prizes for a line and a full house on each game. The grand prize for the flyer game was a hamper, which was sponsored by Zebra Properties. The event was very successful and over £400 was raised.


September was a very busy month for Councillor Wattingham with two fundraising events taking place. Other events that Councillor Wattingham attended included the Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service Awards, the Dunstable Sea Cadets Royal Naval Inspection, Vantage Indian Restaurant’s 25th Anniversary, Houghton Regis Hullabaloo (hosted by Houghton Regis Art Town), the Houghton Together Art Show, The High Sheriff of Bedfordshire’s Service for the Judges, the Five year Anniversary of the Guided Busway, the Three Counties Radio Peoples Awards and the 1st/3rd Scouts Annual General Meeting.


September’s theme was ‘Houghton Rocks Music Festival’ and Councillor Wattingham officially opened the event on Parkside Drive Recreation Ground and presented the prizes from the Vintage and Classic Car Show, which was a popular part of the day.  The event was very successful, with hot sunny weather and a large turnout from local residents.




There was a great selection of music played on the day from the Long Riders, The Trollies, The Flying Ants, Supersonic, and Big in Brazil. There was also a special performance from young people who took part in Houghton’s Got Talent.


On Friday 14th September, Councillor wattinghamhosted a charity meal at the Indian Restaurant in Bedford Square, Houghton Regis, called Cinnamon Lounge. Guests at the meal included Civic dignitaries, family and residents of the town.
