June is always a busy month in the new Mayor’s Diary and events that Councillor Wattingham attended included a 1980s Fundraising Quiz, the Best Bar None Awards, Cheering Volunteering Awards, Dunstable and District Scouts AGM, a carers event at the Disability Resource Centre, the Mayor of Harpenden’s Civic Service, Central Bedfordshire College Student Awards, the Houghton Together Music event, a flag raising ceremony for Armed Forces Day, hosted by Luton Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire Council Pathways Awards Ceremony, the unveiling of a plaque for Christine Kavanagh at the Memorial Hall and the Thornhill Primary School Fete.
Councillor Wattingham also visited Kids in Action and Headway, Luton, which were two of his nominated charities.
In June Councillor Wattingham hosted a Coffee and Cake Afternoon in aid of his nominated charities.
The event was held at the Houghton Hall Park Visitors Centre and guests included the Vice Chairman of Aylesbury Vale District Council, the Mayor of Dunstable, and the Mayor from Leighton Buzzard, as well as representatives from the Mayor’s charities and local organisations. The guests enjoyed some cakes and pastries (including some hand decorated cupcakes donated by 1st/3rd Houghton Regis Scout Group) whilst enjoying the beautiful scenery and surroundings of Houghton Hall Park.
As the end of the month approached, Councillor Wattingham prepared for Houghton Regis Carnival, which was to be one of the warmest days of the year…
