On Saturday 6th of May, residents of Houghton Regis will be on their feet dancing as a Zumbathon sets to take over the Village Green in aid of the L&D Breast Cancer Unit. The quirky fun, keep fit, Zumba dancing movement is just one of the special new items being added to the Houghton Regis May Fair this year.
Town Mayor, Chris Slough will open the event at 12pm with an official opening speech before going on to crown the May Queen. The day will then comprise of two sessions of Maypole dancing, led by professional teacher and musician Mike Ruff, performances from Last of the Summer Ukuleles, Beats Working and David Gibbons topped off with a magic show and balloon modelling from Peter Gardini.
Not forgetting, Zumba Debz, will also be taking to the Village Green to host two Zumbathon’s throughout the day, encouraging the community to take part in the fun in order to raise money for the L&D Breast Cancer Unit. A variety of stalls will also be set up on the day including craft items, charity groups and refreshments in the Village Green Pavilion, from Houghton Regis Helpers.
